Sophisticated Souls of Learning Book Club interviews Mr. D. Le'one, author of The Diary
of a Black Man.
1.What is your name and where are you from?
D. Le'one
and I am living in Memphis.
2. Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born and raised
in Chattanooga, graduate from Howard High School in 1984. I was in the Navy for five years and attended Southern Illinois
University for two years. I am living Memphis with my family.
3. What inspired you to pen your first novel?
I have
always loved to write especially poems, but I decided about a year ago to write a novel. It took about one year but
it was worth the time. I wrote over 1500 pages and narrowed it down to about 200.
4. How did you come up with the title of your book?
The book's first
title was Soul-Mate and it was written in the style of a diary so I decided to change the name. The book
is all about what a young man goes through when searching for a soul mate.
5. How much of your book is realistic?
The book is about 60% realistic
and the erotic parts are true.
6. Are you working on any other projects?
Yes, I am working on two more
books. The Diary of a Black Man 2- The Battle for my Soul, and Erotic Christian.
